Player, coach, scout. Hudson built TPS to give every program the film room he always wished he'd had.
Trench Play Savant was built by someone who has spent his whole life in the trenches: playing in them, coaching them, and scouting them.
Each stop on the way taught him something TPS does today.
The view from inside the trenches.
Hudson played on the line at Stephen F. Austin, a Division I FCS program, in 2023. He learned early that the guys who decide games are the ones nobody in the stands is watching.
The film-room all-nighter.
As a line coach at Stephen F. Austin in 2024, he spent Saturday nights charting every rep by hand so his players had answers by Sunday. He knows exactly what a line coach needs, because he's been the one who didn't sleep to make it.
Ten thousand players. One set of eyes.
Scouting for Stephen F. Austin in 2025 taught him the real problem: there's too much film and not enough people to watch it, and the people who do watch it don't agree.
Teaching a machine to see it.
TPS is everything he knows about line play, taught to a machine that never gets tired of watching film. It's live with programs this season, grading real film every week.
"Everybody watches the ball. Games are won by the ten guys nobody's watching. I watch them for a living, and now I've taught a machine to."
Hudson Stroup, founder of Trench Play Savant
Film review is subjective. TPS is not. Every rep is measured to one standard, your guys and theirs, week 1 and week 11.
Film in by midnight, grades by morning. A coach's time is the most expensive thing in the building.
Built by a coach, in a coach's language. Numbers when they help, never jargon for its own sake.
We show what the machine sees, never how it sees it. The method is the company, and it gets smarter with every game it grades.
