What the numbers mean.
Every grade, stat, and term in the TPS portal, in plain football language.
No terms match that. Try a shorter word, like "rush" or "sack".
Pass rush
- PR reps
- Every snap a defensive lineman rushed the passer.
- PR Value pass-rush value
- One number, 0 to 100, for a pass rusher's impact. Every win counts, and the wins that wreck the pocket count more.
- PR Versatility
- How many ways he beats you. A 100 wins with speed, power, and counters. A low score has one move and the tape knows it.
- Wins
- Pass-rush reps where he beat the man across from him.
- Win %
- The share of his pass-rush reps that were wins.
- Win % All
- His win rate across every rep he played, not just pass rushes.
- Pressures
- Reps where he forced the quarterback to move, hurry, or get rid of the ball early.
- Pressure %
- The share of his pass-rush reps that produced a pressure.
- Sacks
- Quarterback taken down behind the line of scrimmage.
- TKL tackles
- Tackles made.
- TFL tackles for loss
- Tackles made behind the line of scrimmage.
- xSG / rep expected sacks generated per rep
- The sacks his wins should produce per rush, whether or not the quarterback held the ball long enough.
- xSG total
- Expected sacks generated across all his reps. The sacks he earned, not just the ones he got.
Pass protection
- PB reps
- Every snap an offensive lineman pass blocked.
- PB Value pass-block value
- One number, 0 to 100, for how well a protector keeps his quarterback clean.
- Pressures allowed
- Reps where his man forced the quarterback to move, hurry, or throw early.
- Sacks allowed
- Sacks charged to the blocker who lost the rep.
- Anchor
- How well he holds his ground against power. A high anchor means bull rushers stall out on him.
Every rep
- Alignment
- Where the defender lined up before the snap, by technique.
- Move
- The rush move he used on the rep.
- Get-off
- How fast he moved after the snap, in seconds.
- Time to pressure
- How long it took him to pressure the quarterback, in seconds.
- Matchup
- Exactly who he was against on the rep.
- Result
- Rep won or rep lost. Green means the rusher won, red means the block held.
Rush moves
- Speed rush
- Winning around the edge with get-off and bend before the tackle can set.
- Bull rush
- Driving straight through the blocker with power to collapse the pocket.
- Long arm
- Locking out one arm into the blocker's chest to control him and shed.
- Club-swim
- Clubbing the blocker's arm away, then swimming the other arm over the top.
- Rip
- Ripping the inside arm up under the blocker's arm to get past his hip.
- Spin
- Spinning off the blocker's contact to come free on the other side.
- Inside counter
- Selling the outside rush, then cutting back inside once the tackle oversets.
- T-E stunt
- Tackle-end twist: the tackle crashes outside and the end loops inside behind him.
Alignments
- 0-technique nose
- Head up on the center.
- 1-technique
- Shaded on the center's shoulder, in the A-gap.
- 3-technique
- Outside shoulder of the guard, in the B-gap.
- 5-technique
- Outside shoulder of the tackle.
- Wide-9
- Lined up well outside the tight end or tackle, built for speed off the edge.
